ATEX limit switchbox
Beginning on July 1, 2003, the ATEX Directives 1999/92/CE and 94/9/CE are applied as a mandatory requirement to the entire European Community. ATEX is French abbreviation for the words "ATmosphere EXplosible" (hazardous locations). The first of these directives sets the minimum requirements for the safety of people required to work in explosive atmospheres. The second, the 94/9/CE Directive, concerns the sale of protection apparatus and systems designed to be used in explosive atmospheres. The latter is a "new approach" directive aimed at defining essential requirements for putting equipment on the market.
